You'll find many parents wanting to practice positive parenting nowadays. While there's no exact definition for positive parenting, it usually refers to focusing on rewarding good behavior rather than on punishing unwanted behavior. This type of parenting encourages the child to keep on behaving in ways that are acceptable or appropriate while at the same building self-esteem. Would like to use this parenting approach? In this article, we'll discuss ways on how to practice positive parenting.

For children, play is incredibly crucial. Creativity and intelligence in children are being developed during play.

As much as possible, you want to be consistent when it comes to the rules and boundaries you set for your children. Some rules will change as kids get older. From time to time, you'll have to adjust your approach on some things. All in all, though, consistency is something you must practice in relation to the rules you set for your kids to follow.

Overall, however, it's important that you be consistent when it comes to the rules you want your children to abide by.

Kids need a certain amount of sleep and rest to be healthy and to be on their best behavior. If you've got young children, it's important that they get regular naps during the day.

Your children need to go to bed at a time you designate and you shouldn't let them stay up beyond this. Be vigilant about your children's diet because what they eat and drink can directly impact their sleep. There are studies indicating rest and sleep are inversely correlated to problems in learning and behavior in children.

If children get less rest and sleep, they tend to have more learning and behavior issues. Don't expect positive parenting to be smooth sailing all the time, and don't expect yourself to be perfect when it comes to raising your child. Being a good parent to your child doesn't exclusively mean that your child doesn't have any problems or that you've got infinite patience. What it does mean is that you're aware of what's going on with your child and you're taking active steps to raise your child well.
