Why Over 80% Of New Year Resolutions To Lose Weight Fail Within One Month

By Howe Russ

It's the January rush and gyms around the world are flooded with people asking for explanations on how to lose weight quickly and effectively. That's right, it's New Year's resolution time again. Sadly, the overwhelming majority of people who make weight loss their ultimate resolution for the new year tend to get absolutely nowhere and find themselves making the exact same goal twelve months later.

So why does it never actually pan out like you plan?

Over the years, January has become the month where gym memberships soar in popularity and most of those memberships don't last the year despite people having good intentions when they initially take them out. If this situation sounds familiar to you, you can relax safe in the knowledge that it's certainly not something which has just affected you.

As you might expect, if you start telling yourself that your life is going to completely change just because the calendar says January 1st you are probably going to fall off the rails pretty quickly. Your life is a long-term thing, therefore any attempts to change it also need to be long-term, too.

In order to reach success with your fat loss mission you will need to be serious and long-term about achieving your goals. Sadly, the new year resolutions many people make are quick fix wishes they simply cannot stick to. A lot of people do it simply because it's something they have done every year for a long time now and they don't know anything else. That's right, even though they know they're not going to stick to the new diet routine they'll still make plans to lose weight this year. Usually, celebrity magazines and society are to blame for this religious diet planning.

It doesn't make a difference what time or day it happens to be. If you decide you want to change your lifestyle you can begin taking action right now. Those who are serious enough to possess that type of mentality are the ones who tend to get superior results.

Ultimately it's a ready-made excuse for you and you know it. If you are going to allow yourself to fail in your next diet routine purely because it's a Wednesday and you now need to wait until next Monday before you get back on your routine, you have become your own worst enemy. Dieting is the same no matter what day it happens to be.

Once you begin learning how to work at a slightly lower calorie intake than normal and begin adding other proven steps, such as regular meals and plenty of water, you will begin to see results.

So there you have it. Most of us don't fail to get results from our diet because we lack some kind of special ingredient or secret formula. Most fail because January is a month which prompts almost everybody to make big claims of changing their body, most of whom are simply not ready to do it yet. When you want to figure out how to lose weight effectively, the first thing to take into consideration is how serous you actually are. If you're genuinely as serious as you claim to be, then it really doesn't matter what month it is.
