Some people feel that they must join a gym in order to achieve a good work out. However, this is far from true. You can get wonderful in home workouts with a bit of planning and determination. The main goal is to get the body moving. As long as you do this, you will burn calories. It does not matter where you do this, it only matter that you do.

Rent a variety of DVDs. This will enable you to have your own exercise classes in the comfort of your own house. Be sure to get some to get your heart rate up. These can be dance or other high energy choices. You should also do some stretching. This is good to keep you flexible. By doing different types of routines each day your body does not have a chance to become too accustomed to one.

Your schedule may include Pilates one day, yoga the next and the cardio a couple of times a week. Dancing is a fun way to get your cardiovascular work out while learning some new steps and slimming down. You can rent different types of videos each week or every two weeks. The benefit to renting instead of buying is you don't burn out on doing the same thing day after day. You can change whenever you become tired of doing it.

DVDs are one inexpensive way to get in shape. If you are one who gets tired of something quickly, do not buy any. You can rent these. Each week choose something different. Every week should have some cardio, however it does not have to be the same instructor each time. Try several until you find one that suits you.

Yoga and stretching are also great for the body. If you want something that seems more like fun than a workout, think about dance. There are a huge variety of dance DVDs on the market. Again rent several and see which forms of dance you enjoy most. For many this is the best and most fun way to get a workout in.

If small weights are out of your budget, do not fear. You can still tone up those arms. Head to your pantry. Grab some cans or bottles of water. Use those as you do arm exercises. Your muscles do not know whether you are using hand weights that you paid ten dollars for or a bottle of water that you paid one dollar for. Not only will the muscles not know, they don't care either.

Studies have shown that taking a walk is also a mood booster. An after dinner walk is a habit that everyone should try. If you are out of shape, start out slow and build up your stamina. You will be surprised by how quickly you can begin walking for longer periods of time, you will also be surprised to see the pounds melt off.

As you can see any house can be used for in home workouts. Use your imagination to come up with new and unique ways to get your body moving. That is all that you have to do in order to get yourself in shape. Get moving and keep moving and you will see results.
