Diet Plans -Making a Selection

By Jonas Varig

Going on a diet may seem like a very simple thing to start, but when you begin your research, you will find there are varying opinions on which ones actually work. Even the diet books that are readily available at most bookstores present differing opinions on how to lose weight which can become very confusing. This article will discuss several of the more popular dieting routines and try to give you an understanding of which ones might work for you.

As of late, Glycemic Index or GI Diet has been making the rounds in the media. Eating carbohydrates, and when they break down in the body, is the focus of this particular diet program.

Some people believe that a raw foods diet is not only the best way to lose weight, but also the healthiest way to eat. As the name suggests, when you follow this diet, you eat no cooked foods at all. You can eat vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and grains. This is admittedly a rather extreme diet, as it has you avoiding just about all modern processed foods, and not everyone is willing to even try this. Many people who've tried the raw foods diet have more energy and they feel better.

The same diet plans don't work for everyone and there are various theories about this. According to one theory, your blood type is what dictates the foods you should eat. While this theory may or may not be true, it is true that some people can have great success with one diet, while others don't. Some people feel better on a vegetarian diet, while others feel run down. This suggests that you have to pay attention to how various foods make you feel so that you can choose the best type of diet for your own body.

The number of available diet plans means you may have to try a few before finding the right one. Some people find that they need a very strict diet plan that tells them exactly what they're allowed to eat, while others prefer a less rigid program. You will need to cut calories with most diets, but one that doesn't make you feel deprived will generally work better.
