Cut Your Own Hair Easily

By Freida Lamb

If you are like most people who are trying to find any way to save money and perform small things at home, try to learn how to cut your own hair. Some people are uncomfortable with even attempting this but others do this easily with minimal effort each month.

A lot of cosmetologist will pay another expert to give them their perfect hairstyle and will advise against do it yourself hairstyles. Several also say this is very easy to do at home especially if you only need bangs or spilt ends trimmed and not a whole new look.

One of the most important items to have is an extremely sharp set of scissors. The kind that are intended for cutting and trimming hair are probably what you want because they are really thin and lightweight. Most people advise cutting when hair is wet but keep in mind that it is easier to mess up when it is wet because it does not lay the same way it does when it is dry.

Keep a large amount of mirrors near you even if all you have are handheld ones. You need to easily be able to see your entire head while you are working. If this is going to be something you do a lot, consider having mirrors hung on the wall all over the work area.

Work slowly and do not attempt if you are in a rush. Snip very small amounts at a time and try to avoid taking off too much. You cannot attach it back on if you cut a large amount off and make a mistake. Remember, it will probably take time to master this so don't give up.

Search the internet for how to cut your own hair video's, look in the library for books on this topic and keep a positive attitude. Just keep in mind that you are defeating the purpose if you have to go to a professional in the end so that they can fix mistakes you made in your style.
