Different Pool Party Games For Kids

By Ava Hudson

One of the best ways to celebrate the warm weather is to put water in the backyard pool and let the children have fun swimming around in it. Many of the children might get tired of simply swimming around in circles and want to have a little more fun. Fortunately, there is ample opportunity to make the day in the backyard more of an event with a lot of things to do. There are a number of pool party games for kids that they can use to occupy their time and have a whole lot of fun. Here are six games they can play while a parent relaxes in the sun.

Marco Polo has been around for ages. This is when one of the children is picked to wear a blind fold and must make their way around the water in search of the other children. The blind folded one should yell out "Marco" every few moments. The other players are to yell back "Polo". Everyone gets to move around as much as they want, but they have to respond immediately when "Marco" is said. Someone who is too close to the pursuer might get touched when they say "Polo". The person who is touched has to put on the blind fold and look for the other children.

The children can compete against each other in a long jump contest. Someone has to be in charge of a floating device in the water. The contestants can either run off of a diving board or deck and jump over the floating device. The device keeps on getting moved further away until only one person can jump over it and win the contest.

Some prefer a game called "Crossing the River". This is played by breaking up the children into two groups. Each group will need a floating raft or some other similar device that can tip over. Each participant pulls themselves to the other side using a rope without falling off the raft. The first team to have all their players get to one side wins.

Some children really like to play something called "Treasure Hunt". This is when objects that sink are thrown into the water and allowed to scatter all along the bottom. A child will dive in and collect as many objects as possible without taking a breath. The one who retrieves the most items from the bottom will be the winner.

An activity called "Tug O'War" can be played if one has enough deck space. Two teams are placed on opposite sides of the deck and use a rope to pull the each other towards the water. The team that stays on the deck after the other team has fallen into the water wins this particular contest.

A fun game is called "Noodle Joust". Two children get on inflatable rafts and begin to attack each other with Nerf noodles. The object is to knock each other off of the raft. The first one in the water loses. The winner then takes on the next challenger.

Letting children play in the backyard allows parents to keep an eye on them. The parents might have the ability to initiate pool party games for kids if they have the right equipment. This could let the children have plenty of fun while staying safe.
