Child Support Lawyers For Fathers: Can You Afford Not To Have One?

By Raymond Lewis

Research has demonstrated that child support lawyers for fathers can make the difference between you going to jail or focusing on building a life long relationship with your child. If you have been concerned or have been around somebody paying child support or involved in the system chances are you have heard the horror stories of the way in which the man is unjustly treated in the system.

Keep reading as I pull back the curtains and reveal to you a man from Tennessee who was tricked into entering the belly of the beast known as the Child Support System. His ex-wife manipulated him into paying child support for a son that was found not to be his. Unlike most child support cases where the woman is the one who is victorious the man in this situation took his case to the Supreme Court and won. He was able to recover the money that he was tricked into spending on a child that was not his.

Chadwick Craig sued his ex, Tina Marie Hodge, back in 2008 for $25,000 in child support and health care-related payments he had made for her son Kyle. Mr. Craig also won fees for other damages. For 15 years, Craig thought that he was Kyle's father, only to learn in 2007 that Hodge had lied to him all along, according to court documents. Due to the deception, Craig will be in a position to collect on his court action, the state court decided.

The story of Craig and Hodge sort of plays out like one of those Maury Povich shows. Craig and Hodge at one time were high school lovers, although the relationship was described as "on and off." During a hiatus in October 1991, Hodge had sex with somebody named Joey Hay, the court's opinion explains. True love could not be denied for long, and just like a fairytale Craig and Hodge were soon back together.

Once the two were back together Hodge then realized that she was pregnant. and guaranteed Craig that she was positive that he was the child's father and therefore the kid could not be any one else's. How many times have we heard that story before, huh? Anyway they ended up getting married on December 20th. And in June of 1992 Hodge gave birth to a baby boy called Kyle.

As my father use to tell me- a zebra never changes its stripes. My father's saying as always proved true in this situation too. In October 2000 Craig took work as an on-the-road trucker. While he was away, his spouse admitted to having yet one more affair. Obviously that divorce soon followed, and Craig started paying child support as well as medical insurance for what he believed at this time to be his son, Kyle.

That Wich Is In Darkness Shall Come To Light

Years on Craig got awarded custody of little Kyle. As Kyle started to get older Craig started wondering why his son looked nothing like him. Just like any little town, the rumors began to circle around and Craig began to doubt his paternity. Craig waited one night until Kylye was sleeping soundly and took a DNA swab. It was at this time that Craig discovered that Kyle was not his boy.

After being faced with the facts, Hodge eventually owned up to her deception, and Craig was left to drag his life back together. To make things even worse Craig had formerly had a vasectomy. He was satisfied with having one kid, and hasn't been able to reverse it. And to make the story far worse he was out $25,000 in child support and medical care costs for somebody else's kid. Craig sued, obviously. However the court revealed that Hodge (the ex-wife) had acted with "fraudulent intent to deceive Mr. Craig into assuming he was the father," And ordered Craig's child support be returned, along with other damages.

An appeals court acknowledged the mother's deception however took away the damages primarily based on a technicality; Craig took it to the state Supreme Court and got his victory. From now on, men in the state can sue to reclaim their child support if they can show that they were deliberately misled into assuming they were a father.

This story is proof and point of another great example of why child support lawyers for fathers in most cases can make a difference in winning an loosing the case. Way to many times men take the importance of having someone represent them lightly and end up paying the ultimate price.
