The Zebra Dream Lite Is One Way To Help Your Child Sleep

One problem that many parents have in common is how to get their children to sleep. While this can be a frustrating issue, you'll find it also is one that can be corrected. You just have to take charge and approach it in a systematic manner. Sometimes something as simple as a zebra dream lite can be a helpful solution.

For those who do not know what this is, it is an animal shaped type of stuffed animal. The toy has a light inside. When the toy is turned on it illuminates the child's room by making shapes such as stars and the moon on the wall or ceiling. These toys come in a wide variety of animal shapes. Of course this bed time friend alone will not solve the entire issue. You will have to put some work in to make a schedule as well.

While it may seem that children fight to do what they want, the fact is that they like structure. Children find comfort in knowing what there is a schedule. They thrive on this. It gives the child's life a feeling of control. If you approach bedtime with a schedule, you will find that your child comes to enjoy it.

Let the child know about the schedule ahead of time. It may help to make a chart. On the chart list what you want your before bed routine to be. Take some time to come up with the schedule that bests suits your family and your child. One example might be, taking a bath, brushing teeth and then a story and cuddle time. Another person's schedule may have television time, still another might have prayers. Whatever works for you is good.

Children will try to test you. The child will not be used to this schedule and may wonder if you are truly serious about it. Show your child that you mean it. Do not let yourself be talked out of following your new routine. It may take a few days for your little one to see that you really do mean what you say about bedtime.

Keep your emotions in check. Anyone who has been around children knows that kids know how to get a rise out of their parents. It is imperative that you remain in control. Stay firm and sure of yourself. Also speak calmly and lovingly.

Your little one may decide to follow you out of the room after you say goodnight. This of course is not acceptable. Turn he or she around and lead them right back into the bed. Reassure your tyke that he or she can talk to other family members, watch television and play the next day. Night time is for resting and they must stay in bed.

Sometimes even with the best of intentions, a person cannot get to sleep. This happens to people of all ages. When this happens to your kids, let them know that you understand that at times it can be difficult to fall asleep. They can remain in bed until they are able to sleep. The can turn on their zebra dream lite so they do not feel so alone. They will have light and a stuffed animal to cuddle with until they are able to fall asleep.
