What Are the Benefits of a Baby Cradle?

By Cheryl James

Baby cradles are an essential for any newborn baby. A newborn is often much more comfortable in a cradle during the first few months of life, rather than a large crib. Baby cradles come in all different styles, sizes, and shapes and can become overwhelming for parents wanting to choose the best option to fit their needs. There are several things a parent should consider before purchasing a cradle.

The first thing a parent should think about when looking to purchase a cradle is safety. The cradle should be well made and be up to date with all current safety codes. A parent should do their research on current safety codes before selecting a cradle.

Baby cradles are ideal for tight spaces. Cradles come in many different sizes and shapes including oval, rectangular, and round. Parents can decide which cradle size and shape is best for them by first deciding how much space is available. Because cradles come in many different color options parents will need to decide which color they prefer as well as which color will match existing dcor.

The parents will also need to know if they plan on moving the baby cradle often. Some parents may want the cradle in a bedroom during the night and in a separate room during the day. If the parents plan on moving it often, a cradle with wheels attached is the way to go.

Establishing a budget for a baby cradle will also help parents narrow down their choices. Cradles are available in both basic and very fancy styles to fit everyone's budget. While some basic cradles may be less expensive, the more expensive cradles may offer a higher weight limit or under cradle storage. Comparing all aspects of the cradles is essential.

A small infant, in the first few months of life, will spend the majority of their time in a baby cradle. Parents can choose the best cradle for their newborn by narrowing down the options and deciding what they do and do not need in the cradle. Deciding on the right cradle will give parents piece of mind in knowing their newborn will come home to a comfortable and inviting place to rest.
