Information About The New Hip Seat

By Mona Moody

Many moms carry their child on their backs, directly on the hips, or with a shoulder strap. This may be fine for a little while, but eventually the child will be at an age where carrying them in this position may have damaging long-term effects for the mother on her spine and muscles. One of the products that claim to help avoid these problems is the hip seat. Here are 5 pieces of information that will help with deciding if this is worth the investment or not.

This is basically a belt that wraps around the waist and is connected with a Velcro strap, which makes it adjustable to fit any kind of body type. Then it has a buckle for a little extra security along with pockets where wallets, cash, and any other random odds and ins need to be hidden.

When the child sits directly on the adult, the weight of them pushes down on holder. Rather than having to hold the child from underneath, the idea of this seat is to have there be less pressure on the hip. The Velcro and buckle make it easy to switch the shelf from one side of the body to the other without having to go through the hassle of taking it on and off.

There are many health benefits with this seat as well. It acts as a back supporter and evens out the weight between the back, spine, and shoulders. Normally the child would sit directly on the waist, but with this seat, the weight would be primarily on the pelvis, waist and hips, allowing the back to be straighter rather than having to push the hip out.

There are many mothers and fathers that are used to pushing the pram around or having a sling for the baby to rest in, but when one is in a crowded area or the child has grown too big, these may not be ideal anymore. With this seat, it is much less packing and saves loads of space in the car. For those who like being a busy bee, this could be a great investment.

This is though only a shelf for the child to be propped up on. There is no back to it, so there always needs to be a hand supporting the back of the child. Unfortunately both hands cannot be free then, but it is still a great way to temporarily relieve the tired arms and hips. For those that go out on short walks or are around the house, this might be a great product to look into.

In regards to prices, they will range pretty dramatically. Like most things, if name brand is important, the price will go up, but if not, go for an off brand and save a few bucks. There are a wide variety of colors to choose from as well.

There are many different carriers that are available for parents, and the hip seat is another one of those. There are pros and cons, but it really depends on what the needs are of the child and the adult. Some children need to be close to their mother at all times, this could be a great investment for them. Talk to other parents and see what they think of it or if they are using other products that might be more suitable.
