Safety Precautions If You Have Toddlers That Love The Pool

By Wanda H Megyese

Jeremiah is a bright 4-year-old that really loves the water. Each time he sees a pool, he goes crazy and cajoles, demands and also whimpers to be allowed to jump in. Luckily, he was not traumatized when, at 2, he very nearly drowned. I'm the one who worries each time my young man encounters a body of water.

That was until Sandy, a college chum, introduced me to a pool safety alarm for toddlers. Jeremiah was tagged along when I went to see Sandy, whose residence has a swimming pool. My pal explained it was precisely children like Jeremiah which encouraged her to set up a monitoring gadget within the pool area.

Her own niece once fell into the swimming pool, and no one found out she had gone out. Sandy heard panicked screams and checked, only to see the little girl flailing her own arms. She was saved, and my close friend promised nothing just like that would happen once again within her own home.

Her pool alarm system immediately sets off whenever a toddler, or pet, falls into the pool unsupervised. Whenever children wander to the swimming pool unnoticed, and slide accidentally or are so excited they jump in, the alarm's electronic sensor is going to detect this, and the alarm is triggered.

Sandy explained you become notified both by the main unit as well as a receiver to use inside the home. They have been able to test out the pool alarm twice, although one time was a mistake in that it was her grownup brother who had jumped in.

As soon as set up, the alarm system can't be deactivated. You can't remove it in order to stop it from sounding the alarm. Rather, there is a sleep setting to prevent the alarm from going off. The receiver can be mounted 200 feet from the primary unit.

To appease Jeremiah, Sandy invited him to go back another time for an actual swimming party. Meanwhile, he could just hang his feet over the swimming pool.

I wish more houses got a pool safety alarm for children set up as a safety precaution, and also for parents' peace of mind.
