A Lady's Daily Vitamins

By David Morris

While many things change in a woman's life, there are some things that stay the same, and one of these things is nutrition. A good, balanced diet will provide much of this, for example fibre and protein. However she still has to be careful to make sure she gets the enough of essential minerals and vitamins that a normal diet may not always include.

Examples include iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium and vitamin D; and vitamin B12 for those following a vegetarian or vegan diet. Excellent sources of these minerals and vitamins are super foods, including: Raw cacao nibs, they're really high in magnesium, as well being yummy too. Spirulina is high both calcium and zinc and contains more iron that raw liver. Bee pollen is a good source of vitamin D, B12, and zinc too.

Finding the healthy selection

The first thing to do, is to consider exactly are we really getting enough of the essential vitamins and minerals that we need to be healthy and happy? These include vitamin C and full set of B vitamins. We all know about vitamin C, think oranges for example, but what about all the B vitamins? Vitamin B1 is called thiamine, vitamin B2 is riboflavin, vitamin B3 is niacinamide, vitamin B5 is pantothenic acid, vitamin B6 is pyridoxine, vitamin B7 is biotin, vitamin B9 is better know as folic acid, and B12 is cobalamin. Bee pollen is one superfood that actually contains all the B vitamins together as well as vitamin C. Spirulina contains many of the B vitamins and vitamin C.

In fact most Super foods contain many of the vitamins and minerals that can not always found in a 'normal' diet, including vitamin A, and vitamin E for healthy skin and immune function, and to protect against a wide variety of diseases.

Strong bones

Ladies also need to take good care to keep their bones strong to prevent against osteoporosis as the years go by. Nutrition expert and author of Body After Baby, Jackie Keller says "Women need calcium at all stages of life, and we generally don't get enough in our diets through food sources." As well as milk, Spirulina is just an excellent source of calcium, and when taken along side a good, balanced diet can help you each the recommended daily amount. In addition, doctors do also recommend taking vitamin D along side taking calcium. Super foods including bee pollen and chia seeds contain vitamin D.

The fatty acids that are good

Omega 3 fatty acids, are especially essential for the body's health. For women, they can help prevent a wide range of conditions including, depression, heart disease, and osteoporosis. Food sources include cold-water fish, walnuts, and rapeseed oil. Omega-3 oils are found naturally in almost all super foods, and Chia Seeds are are very rich in Omega 3 oils.
