Things You Need To Know About Glitz Beauty Pageants

By Rena Hudson

The glitz beauty pageants are popular events all across the country. These events are quite different than natural beauty pageants. The glitz beauty pageants require the girls to use hair pieces, lots of make-up, fake eyelashes, spray tans and even fake teeth called flippers. The flippers give the girls a gorgeous smile.

When the girls finally get all the fake pieces put on they look like little adults. It is not uncommon for parents to put colored contacts on their children before they go on stage. The contestants usually range from babies to five year old. Since the contestants are so young they do not have very good vocabulary skills so the pageant is based solely on their outer beauty.

The girls have to wear dresses that are cupcake style. A cupcake style dress is a short dress that comes up above the knee by a few inches and is layered with lots of lace so that the dress sticks out away from the body. The girls have to learn to walk with their little hands held away from their bodies.

The girls are taught to use exaggerated facial expressions. They bat their eyelashes a lot and there is also a lot of head tilting and blowing kisses to the judges and crowd. If your child does not like getting dressed up or having all eyes on them then they will probably not do very well in one of these pageants.

These type of contests are perfect for girls that love to dress up and have all the attention on them. There are lots of different prizes and huge crowns that do not even fit the heads of the winners. The trophies are twice as tall as the winners. If you are interested in these pageants they are not hard to find.

You should make sure that your daughter is able to sit still long enough to have all the extra stuff put on like the eyelashes, hair piece and make up. The dresses for these events are quite expensive. They range in prices from about a thousand bucks and up. You could even spend a couple thousand dollars on just one of these dresses.

A natural pageant is completely different than a glitz pageant. Most children that are in the glitz pageants find it difficult to transition into the natural pageants because of how different they both are. Children love to get all dolled up and be the center of attention on stage but mothers of the contestants are quite competitive.

You have to remember to just have fun. You may be upset if your child does not win, but it is important to teach your children that it is not always about winning but about doing your very best. Some of the contestants have been doing these events since they learned to walk.

Some of the girls even have pageant coaches. The mothers think they have a better chance of winning a big title if they spend money on a coach. There are parents that spend several thousand dollars each year on the dresses and coaches. Also, it is not cheap to travel to the different cities around the country for these glitz beauty pageants.
